UNIQLO

Locations:  34th street and 5th Avenue flagship, New York

My Role:  Sr. Project Manager

Working for JapanWorking for Japanese giant Uniqlo as they further expanded from their single store in Soho, Gensler acted as the executive architect for the two new UNIQLO locations.   My team & I played an important role in translating the futuristic, experience-focused design, developed by Japanese designers Wonderwall, for the U.S. market.  The Fifth Avenue store was unique in the world. The design featured 60-foot escalators, that soar from the first to third floor, which were flanked by grand stairs lit with neon LED risers and spinning mannequins. Plus, it included over 300 LCD screens for digital signage including four glass elevators with large scale LED screens that essentially created moving signage across the Fifth Avenue façade. 34th Street location showcased UNIQLO’s refreshed flagship design concept, which was subsequently rolled out globally.  Starting with managing the 5th Avenue project and then, once the project was rolling, switching to managing the 34th street store gave me incredible experience in working with challenging schedules & exacting technical detail.
